HOLYSPIRIT/CULTURE MISSIONS ,,, MIXED THOUGHTS .

1.     ROLE OF HOLY SPIRIT AND PRAYER IN CHRISTIAN MISSION. In the Old testament we see the role of Prayer in the extension of God's purposes. A quick look at Jehoshaphat when the nation faced disaster and he called upon the people to fasting for a designated time. They separated themselves from daily routines and devoted extra time to considering their sins and praying to God to help them. We see Jehoshaphat committing the situation to God, acknowledging God’s sovereignty over their current situation. He praised God's Glory and took comfort in his promises, and he confessed complete dependence on God, not himself. (2 Chronicles 20:1-14) Our complete dependence is seen in ways we deal with daily situations while serving God cross-culturally.   The Holy spirit through prayer played a vital role in the first-century church. We see the church put aside every work and waited upon him for 10 days that the power might be manifest? The apostles  in the book of...

A SELF GIVING GOD WHO INVITES ME INTO COMMUNION WITH THE TRIUNE GOD.

"Self-Giving as the Inner Life of God.” By Arthur McGill's This was an intriguing logical argument from Athanasius for the divinity of Jesus, the Son of God. In his Orations against Arian, one that caught my eye was his response to Arius’ understanding of who Jesus is. Specifically responding to the Arian notion that the Father is one (God) and Jesus is the first one ad the greatest of all created beings. The push for the subordination by Arian denies Son's deity. The son is a creature whom the father had created out of nothing and is only God in the sense that he has been given the dignity of deity. This was very disturbing, yet Athanasius logical respond clarified a lot of my unease, First the fact that the Son must entirely participate in the Father nature in order for the Son to be divine and thus save humanity     Upholding the Father as ineffable, immutable, and unchangeable changes the way I approach him in prayer. This is the sum; if there was ever a time w...

IS SIN AT THE CENTER OR CHRIST?

The King Jesus Gospel: Short review.   Scot Mc Knight   The author's focus throughout the book is the question: What is the Gospel? The major differences between the “Gospel culture” and the “Salvation culture “intrigued me. McKnight (2011) argues that for so long Christianity “the gospel” has been how Jesus deals with our sin such that we may gain entrance to heaven upon death. Salvation culture henceforth focuses on getting people “deciding”, unlike the “Gospel culture” that leads to a life of discipleship and spiritual transformation (pg.29).  As I followed his four arguments; that the gospel is defined by the apostles in 1 Corinthians 15 as the complete  story of Israel in the saving story of Jesus; that the gospel is found in the four gospels; that Jesus preached the gospel: and that the sermons on the Book of Acts are the best examples of gospel in the New testament, I had a moment of redefining what I considered being the “gospel”. ...

How God Rescued Me: I am surely on Assignment By and With Him.

Blogged 10 years ago!! New pics just!! 12 YEARS AGO NOW SINCE GOD SAVED ME FROM A FATAL ACCIDENT. WATCHED 13 PERISH AS I GOT RESCUED.  I will not forget the faithfulness of the Lord. I will narrate this to generations and generations, and I will praise Him for He is mighty to save. Why do I say that? It's now 12 years this month since this happened. I traveled from Uganda, where I lived, to Kenya to visit my parents and I had a safe trip, and we had a 4 days reunion with my family. I was ready to return back to my husband.  On my way, as always, I visited a couple friends (The Kushites) who, after a long chat, prayed for my trip.   After entering a Taxi/ Matatu (public transportation) 14 Sitter, I found myself interceding and pleading for safety in prayer to God.  There was only one seat left behind, and since I was in a hurry, I agreed to sit behind with two old men. I started looking for a safety belt and was convinced I needed to tighten one. (Mind ...

FIRST TIME MUM'S INVITED AND ALL TIE KNOTS INTENDS......

It’s almost 12 years now since me and my husband(Rob) got married. 1 year after we were married, we learned that we were expecting a baby. Perfect timing indeed for me to travel and visit my family in Kenya, me and Rob agreed. Why? First, we were convinced t hat my tummy was small enough so it will be easier than later in the year. second, s ince after delivery I would not travel, we figured out this was the best time. Third,  I needed to share the pleasant news with Mum.     So I set off for Nairobi on a bus and I slept all the way through and after arriving in Nairobi I took another three hour trip to my village Karurumo.  I arrived home and 😍my mum was so excited to meet me.  I broke the splendid news to her, my mum was excited but I could tell she was not ok.  After some hours of catching up, I went to see my friend in the neighborhood. Something strange happened;  clots of blood were flowing and my pants(trouser)  became all wet....
