WHAT STORY WILL YOU TELL

WHAT STORY WILL YOU TELL

Oh my it’s been a full month full of very exciting new things and adventures. This morning I was reading my bible and psalms 121 spoke into my life, and I would like to pray it over you as you read this. As you lift up your eyes may you continue learning that your help comes from the Lord alone, the maker of heaven and earth? He will not let you foot slip he who watches over you will not slumber, indeed he who watches over Israel will neither slumber or sleep. May the Lord watch over you and be your shade at your right hand. The sun will not harm you by day or the moon by night. The lord will keep you from all harm; he will watch over your life, he will watch over your coming and going both now and forever.

Christmas cantata

Our kids got an opportunity to sing at the Watoto church Christmas Cantata 2015 and though long practice they enjoyed singing and dancing, The highlight was that our friends who are our neighbors  and Muslim attended and they were escorted by their mum who sat in and listened to the very evangelical and clear show about JESUS THE SUPER HERO.

 URBANA15

I had a privilege of celebrating Christmas earlier than the usual since I had to travel on Christmas Eve. My flight was a long one and I reached ST. Louis Missouri for Urbana on the 25th Dec 2015. Few days earlier I had received a request to take up an extra seminar on Ministry opportunities for women, which I gladly took because I and Susie (My host in Urbana) thought we could just share our experiences as women in Ministry.
At this point I have to thank God for my friend Susie Veon who ensured I attended Urbana by meeting my travel and conference fees. she went ahead to make sure that i was warm and happy the entire week. (meet me and Susie)
The two seminars went well, My need for God’s grace came so clear when I got so overwhelmed and intimidated with numbers and the bigness of the seminar( ministry among children of war and the truth of human trafficking) which was highly attended.  My friends gathered and prayed for me and YES praise the Lord He spoke to His children and used me a weak vessel. Glory to God.

Any word describing Urbana would be an understatement; I loved seeing Jesus through the book of Mathew, and never before had I had such an encounter.  My commitment to God rather than to Missions was renewed, my conviction clear on how I can easily fall into manufacturing a heart for missions and miss the heart of Christ. I don’t want to continue being busy and miss a relationship with my Lord. The life in love with Christ.  My passion for missions needs to be an overflow of my love for God. This is one thing i carried home and want to practice.
I also got an opportunity to feature at Urbana today with an article “Obey today” https://urbana.org/blog/obey -today. I am thankful to God that I could share with 16,000 plus people about Jesus story in me. I totally loved to see such a gathering of so many people worshiping the Lord.

The weather was very rough but I enjoyed the warmth of the people who hosted me.

REUNIONS– Urbana, Boston, New haven.

I had several reunions with students that have come to GLA for Global Issues Program (GIP) over years. And it was great seeing the impact that the global missions have on the rising generation. It was pure fan to meet laugh sing and pray together.

TIME WITH ECV CHURCH –NEW HAVEN

Through Josh and Tina who are the pastors of ECV I had a chance to speak at the service about GLA, children’s church and after wards had a dinner with the members as we spoke more on GLA and missions in broad. In their warmth they hosted and made me visit so many people who we shared a lot with. Totally grateful to them for loving on me so much.

MY ADVENTURE TRIPS

making Chapattis for my host

Let me introduce to you Linda Heesch who worked with me in Uganda when I was student worker in 2009 and 2010 and she has remained a dear friend and supporter of my work, we longed to see each other and indeed God made it possible for us to meet again, this was a great reunion. We visited the daughter’s family in Milwaukee with whom we spent time together.

We then flew back to Colorado where we spent time talking and engaging in very meaningful discussions. My highlight was driving to the Colorado Mountains and yes I had an opportunity to play with snow and make snow angels and just have fun.  I also got an opportunity to visit where Linda grew up from, I had heard so many stories about the farm and finally got to see the place, on sad note I missed the people I had always longed to meet, the parents who have gone to be with the Lord but left a huge legacy behind and its being passed on by Linda and the brother.

We did a lot of interesting and fun things together which filled my tank and gave me time to rest and also think.

FAREWELL.

I had a chance to meet Tom and Nancy who are also my good friends and I got to meet their daughters and their grandchildren and had a farewell lunch with some of the Gip guys.

By 16th Jan I was ready to go home and meet my family and oops I almost missed my flight due to a communication error,  but thanks be to God I managed to catch it and yes it was a long flight but I happily got reunited to my family, who had waited for me for so long.
I learnt A lot and am challenged to some particular things which  will keep sharing with you as time goes on for now
HAVE A GREAT 2017.

  1. Trully eventful. Challenging & fun. You had a great time. Two things have come out so clearly for me here:
    1. Vertical relationship with Jesus "My passion for missions needs to be an overflow of my love for God. This is one thing i carried home and want to practice."
    2. Horizontal relationship- the many friends you reunited with....awesome.

    Inspiring as always.

  2. I loved reading all about your trip Gillie! And just like Henry, what stands out for me is the fact that my passion for missions needs to overflow out of my love for God. That is so profound.

I am glad you got to re-unite with all your friends. Love you girl!

Who is with you Behind the boat? When its mid life is it Crisis time?

Does life really begin at 40?   If So, what does one do in  their first 39 years?  Are they just rehearsing?  What about the midlife crisis?  Does it exist, and if it does, is it only for women, just men, and at what exact age does it happen? Now that it is only a few days before I turn 40 years old, join me as I reflect more on it. Elliott Jacques, who introduced the term mid-life crisis, defines it as to " pause from actively pursuing one's goals and review their achievements, take stock of what they have and have not yet accomplished, at times taking drastic measures to fulfill their dreams." He further argues that critical phases characterize the change of point periods of rapid transitions in individuals' development. What is wrong with pausing, I wonder? My Crisis: behind the boat with storms.  At around 35years, a transition begins to happen to individuals termed as a midlife crisis. He admits that the time will vary, though, among individuals. The cris

How God Rescued Me: I am surely on Assignment By and With Him.

Blogged 10 years ago!! New pics just!! 12 YEARS AGO NOW SINCE GOD SAVED ME FROM A FATAL ACCIDENT. WATCHED 13 PERISH AS I GOT RESCUED.  I will not forget the faithfulness of the Lord. I will narrate this to generations and generations, and I will praise Him for He is mighty to save. Why do I say that? It's now 12 years this month since this happened. I traveled from Uganda, where I lived, to Kenya to visit my parents and I had a safe trip, and we had a 4 days reunion with my family. I was ready to return back to my husband.  On my way, as always, I visited a couple friends (The Kushites) who, after a long chat, prayed for my trip.   After entering a Taxi/ Matatu (public transportation) 14 Sitter, I found myself interceding and pleading for safety in prayer to God.  There was only one seat left behind, and since I was in a hurry, I agreed to sit behind with two old men. I started looking for a safety belt and was convinced I needed to tighten one. (Mind you, this wasn't a norm th

LOVE IMMIGRANTS -CROSS-CULTURAL MARRIAGE.

“Am not Right; you are not wrong” we are just different. “Will you marry me?” after prayer and thoughts, my answer is Yes. While we are in Norway, Africa is just ‘one country,’ and Uganda and Kenya are ‘neighboring districts.’ As we leave Europe, we are sure we want to try this, and our song is “No mountain is too high, no valley too low.” On reaching Kenya, Africa's reality as a continent meets me, and Uganda as a neighboring country mile apart hits me. Anyway, we had promised each other that if love can stand the distance, we will go for it. Long-distance Dating I receive a phone call +256, and it's my Boyfriend but guess what, as soon as we talk for a few minutes, it's off. Ohhh, we are calling across networks in different countries; it’s an international call! Oops. Well, MTN had an offer of 99%, but you could only get it at that price from 2.00-4.00 am. So, change of sleeping system everyday date with my Ugandan boyfriend 3.00-4.30 am. We must go to work b
